The Interior Design Training You Need For Licensing

To qualify to take the interior design exam given by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ), you need to have a certain level of interior design training. How much training you need depends on the level of education you have. You can follow these guidelines to determine how much interior design training you need:

• For graduates of a bachelor degree in interior design, you need 3,520 hours of work experience in order to qualify to take the NCIDQ examination.

• For those who complete a certificate or degree with a minimum of 60 semester hours or 90-quarter credits, you need to have 5,280 hours of work experience to qualify to take the NCIDQ examination.

• For those who complete a certificate or degree program with at least 40 semester hours or 60-quarter credits, you need to have 7,040 hours of work experience to qualify to take the NCIDQ examination. Additional requirements may apply depending when you apply to take the NCIDQ examination.

The NCIDQ updates their requirements and additional rules may apply based on the state you take your exam in. For further information on the interior design training you need, go to www.ncidq.org.
